Description: The Pottery Workshop is a ceramic-arts education center specializing in teaching both beginners and accomplished potters techniques to create quality ceramics and stoneware. Hands in Clay is a beginner-level class where you will learn basic skills including pinch, coil and slab. You may also have your work glazed after class with signature blue and white lacquers for a small fee. The
Taikang Lu location makes a visit to the Pottery Workshop a perfect part of an outing to one of Shanghai's most exciting arts neighborhoods.

Getting there: Take the 955, 218, 43 or 806 bus routes; walk from Luban Lu metro station (line 4) in about 15 minutes or from Shaanxi Nan Lu metro station (line 1) in about 20 minutes; or take a taxi to Taikang Lu between Ruijin Lu and Sinan Lu.

  • 2. CNY 20 fee per item painted and glazed using authentic Jingdezhen paints and glazes.

Important notes

  • 1. Classes held at the following times: 2-5 p.m. Tuesday and Sunday, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday.
  • 2. If you cannot pick up your work, it can be shipped to you. Mainland China delivery fees vary from RMB 6 to 15 plus RMB 25 for packaging. 3-5 days delivery time, depending on how distance. If you are in Shanghai you may schedule a pickup. Shipment to the US and UK also available; inquire for more information.
  • 3. Adults can bring one child each for additional RMB 150.
  • 4. The size of your work should be smaller than 25cm X 25cm X 20cm to comply with kiln dimensions.
